Bank of Canton Donates $2,000 to the Future and Community Problem Solvers of Canton

July 15, 2009 – Stephen P. Costello, President and CEO of Bank of Canton, is pleased to announce the Bank’s recent donation of $2,000 to the Future & Community Problem Solvers of Canton. This contribution helped sponsor the teams’ recent trip to the 35th annual International Conference of Future Problem Solving at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. Members of the Canton teams met to test their skills against those from 40 States and foreign countries including, Australia, China, Great Britain, and New Zealand.

"As a volunteer-based group, it’s vital to have the generosity of donors like Bank of Canton that allows our students to make a difference in our community and around the globe.”

“At Bank of Canton, we value the opportunity to get involved in the community,” said Mr. Costello. “The Future & Community Problem Solvers have demonstrated outstanding teamwork and have acted as a tremendous representative of the Canton community. We’re excited to lend our support to a program that‘s committed to local students.”

The Future & Community Problem Solvers are open to students in grades 4-12. The FPS team is a group of four students who learn a six-step problem solving process, which they then apply, along with their research on specific topics, to solve social and scientific problems. The CmPS team is a group of up to 15 students who apply their FPS skills to real problems in their community. Canton’s Massachusetts State Championship teams received four awards at this year’s International Conference.
